TENJI JAPANESE BUFFET:

What is the best dining solution that is able to feed hungry university students (and parents…) at a minimal price? A buffet of course! Tenji Japanese Buffet serves an amazing fusion of Japanese sushi and sashimi, Dim Sum, decadent desserts and other mouth-watering Asian cuisine that snakes around the better half of the restaurant. The best part is that you can take your time to eat and re-fill your plates until you can’t even roll home! The lunch buffet is £12.50 pounds per person while the evening buffet is £20.90 pounds per person, starting at 7pm. Also, in addition to the evening buffet menu, patrons can order the a la carte dishes from the main menu at no extra charge, what a steal!

MILLER AND CARTER:

Miller & Carter Steakhouse is one of the slightly more up-scale restaurants for a graduation meal, but trust me when I say they serve the best steaks around! Their starters menu consists of Baked Cheddar Mushrooms to Black Pearl Scallops, while their choice of steak varies from sirloin and fillet to a 45-day aged rump, whichever that tickles your fancy. Of course, they have burgers, fish and pasta if steak is not a personal favourite. For those with a sweet tooth, I had their glorious chocolate cake topped with raspberry ice cream and whipped cream during Christmas, though it is probably unavailable now, other desserts are just as praise-worthy. On to the pricing, the range would be about £25-£30 per head on average, and I’d say it’s worth every penny.

SILK ROOM RESTAURANT AND CHAMPAGNE BAR:

Located at the Quayside, Silk Room is known to roll out a stunning menu for graduating students every year. Perusing the 2016 graduation menu, I’d have to say they have done it again. Highland Smoked salmon and Crème de Cassis sorbet among others for starts, Chicken Breast and Slow Roasted Shank of Lamb for mains and onwards to Warm Double Chocolate Brownie, Champagne Sorbet and Gluten-free Carrot Cake to end your gastronomic experience with a bang. Honestly, the price for a 3-course dinner is £28.95, including Prosecco Cocktail is £34.95. It is so worth it!

THE BRIDGE BRASSERIE:

Located in The Vermont Hotel, you should already have an inkling of how stylish and posh this dining venue is, dress code is nothing short of smart casual. The menu selection is slightly less varied than the previous restaurants, however it is equally impressive in terms of dining experience. This restaurant has starters like Homemade saffron spaghetti and Pissaladiere (Provencal onion & anchovy tart), the regular steaks with sides if you wish as well as lamb or pork belly. Finally rounding up with desserts like the Fruit gazpacho or a warm sticky toffee pudding. Wine choices on the other hand proves to be a heaven for wine connoisseurs, ranging from dry and fruity whites to big and spicy reds.
