Following the success of their debut album, I Love You (featuring the hit single 'Sweater Weather'), The Neighbourhood have finally returned with their latest album Wiped Out.

The album begins with 'A Moment Of Silence', which is literally thirty seconds of silence. At first this may seem pointless, however, after listening to the entire album, you could argue that the silence works in correlation with the theme of the album, and particularly with the final song, in which it could represent a moment of silence for the 'funeral' of the band's youth.

depressing as the tracks are, all are vibrantly well produced and often juxtapose the gloomy and almost pessimistic narrative throughout

The remaining ten tracks are fuelled with the melding of alternative rock and RnB which we expect from The NBHD, yet again establishing their unique sound which clearly sets them apart from other artists. This can also be seen in the way in which they present themselves, always in black and white, always suggesting that it's either all or nothing. This can be reflected particularly in 'Wiped Out!', with the dark and edgy lyrics giving us an element of raw honesty into the personal youth of lead singer, Jesse Rutherford. With that being said, it doesn't necessarily set the tone of the album as being depressing as the tracks are, all are vibrantly well produced and often juxtapose the gloomy and almost pessimistic narrative throughout, allowing listeners to truly get lost in the album. Nonetheless, the persistent sound of The Neighbourhood doesn't always work to their advantage and often gives off a monotonous vibe, making it difficult to distinguish between each song.

The album ends with 'R.I.P 2 My Youth', which perfectly concludes the album and gives us a sense of optimism as despite the fact that the song is about the end of his youth, Rutherford expresses that he can now 'see what's in front of [him]'.
